La Quilla Lyme Regis

Well, our second visit in the last 12 months and it saved the day.  Having walked out of the ‘Italian’ Lyme Bay we were expecting to go hungry [Lyme Regis in January is very quiet] but no, the Indian La Quilla was open and thriving.  Its BYO so pop in to the Tescos or Coop at the top of the hill first.  Well worth a visit and not as a second choice.

Lyme Bay - Lyme Regis

Absolutely terrible.  It might be the first weekend of the season, they might have new staff, we might have been very unlucky but wow, it couldn’t have been worse.  The smoke from the kitchen combined with the disgruntled looks on the other 2 tables should have told us something.  Its supposed to be Italian although I didn’t see or hear an accent to help authenticate that.  Mrs Wilsons main course didn’t resemble the menu item other than the tuna, crushed olive mash had been replaced by new potatoes and Mediterranean veg had been replaced by limp lettuce.  We left and refused to pay for the mains.

Don’t go

Rajkumar - Horsham

Absolutely the best curry in town. Check out the Indian salad (very healthy) and the huge naans. Great service. Fab for takeouts or eat ins. The only worrying thing is that we go so often they know our order off by heart - whoops.

Samnae - Horsham

Our second visit and all the small niggles have been ironed out. It is truly fusion - thai, chinese and japanese with a mixture of traditional dishes like prawns with ginger and spring onions and more adventurous dishes such as edamame beans and a range of eastern curries. Also there is plenty of space between the tables so you don't feel that you are joining another family for dinner! One unusual thing - there are unisex toilets - very Ally McBeal.

The Silver Wok - Horsham

Good authentic thai food. Don't be put off by the outside of the building which is quite hideous (and actually the inside isn't great) - the menu more than makes up for it. The food is really is really fresh - not cheap but you do get what you pay for here at least.

Nooris Indian - Brighton

Whatever happens, however busy the rest of Brighton is DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.  Rude, unhelpful, sarcastic, uninterested.  If you follow our twitter '@mrandmrswilson' you will already know that we weren't happy with the tinned curry sauce on the prawns.  Avoid at all costs.

Dont Go

Oki-nami - Brighton

If you like Japanese you will definatley love Oki-nami.  If you dont like or have never tried Japanese then consider trying this restaurant, its varied menu offers more than sushi and will entice anyone with an open mind.  Go on try it.
